Wood has recently hit an all-time high due to increasing demand from industrial and residential activities. We believe Weyerhaeuser (WY) and Rayonier (NYSE 🙂 are well positioned to benefit from rising lumber prices. But let's find out which of these stocks is better to buy now. Dieeyerhaeuser Company (NYSE 🙂 manufactures and sells forest products. The company operates in three main areas of business: forest areas, wood products, and real estate, energy and natural resources. The wood products segment supplies sawn timber, construction panels, wood-based materials and supplementary construction products for residential, industrial and commercial applications.

Rayonier Inc. . (RYN) is a leading wood real estate mutual fund with assets in some of the most productive softwood growing areas in the United States and New Zealand. The company operates in seven segments: Southern Timber, Pacific Northwest Timber, New Zealand Timber, Timber Funds, Real Estate, Commerce, Corporate, and others.

The US wood market has seen increasing demand since the economy began to recover. Given the low inventory levels, rising demand from industrial and residential activities meant that lumber prices rose to an all-time high of $ 1,328.50 per thousand board feet on April 19th. The booming real estate market, the expected infrastructure developments and home improvement trends in the country are likely to drive lumber prices further. In fact, the global waste wood market is expected to grow at an annual rate of 4.6% to USD 70.37 billion by 2028.
