: Tesla cancels Plaid Plus; “No want” after upgrading to a standard plaid, tweeted Elon Musk

Tesla Inc. is pulling the plug on its Model S Plaid Plus electric car, Elon Musk said on Sunday, because the normal plaid is "so good".

In a series of tweets, the Tesla boss said, “Model S is going at plaid speed this week. Plaid + is canceled. No need as plaid is just that good. 0 to 60 mph in less than 2 seconds. Fastest production car ever built. Has to be felt to be believed. "

Tesla says that with a starting price of around $ 120,000, the plaid has a top speed of 300 mph and goes from 0 to 60 in 1.99 seconds, compared to 3.1 seconds for the regular Model S. It was unveiled in 2019 and the first plaid deliveries are expected this week with a delay of months. The Plaid Plus would have cost about $ 30,000 more and would have better battery range – 520 miles per charge compared to the Plaid's 390.

Production of the Plaid Plus was expected in 2022. As of Sunday, the Plaid Plus option was grayed out and not clickable on the Tesla website. The status of the Plaid Plus pre-orders was unclear. Tesla, which closed its media relations department last year, didn't respond immediately when asked for details.
