(Reuters) – The Arizona Cardinals were the first National Football League team to unveil plans to have sports betting retail in their home stadium as part of a three-way partnership announced Monday with BetMGM and Gila River Hotels & Casinos.

BetMGM, the sports betting division of MGM Resorts (NYSE 🙂 International, plans to open a sports betting retail outlet at the Cardinals' State Farm Stadium in time for the 2022-2023 NFL season.

The partnership includes plans to open sports betting at the three Gila River Hotels & Casinos locations in Arizona owned by the Gila River Indian Community, shortly before the upcoming 2021-2022 NFL season begins early next month.

"This is a great opportunity to build on our longstanding relationship with Gila River and start a new one with BetMGM," said Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill in a joint statement announcing the partnership.
