On a recent episode of the How Success Happens podcast, I sat down with Jeff Arnold, a renowned entrepreneur who has founded several companies to date, including three healthcare game changers. He founded QDS, a heart monitoring company and the forerunner of modern telemedicine, WebMD, widely recognized as the first healthcare homepage since the days of Web 1.0, and now Sharecare, the digital health company that helps people see all of their health in one place manage.

But for Jeff, success wasn't possible overnight. In fact, his journey in healthcare began towards the end of his college career after getting a casual position in pharmaceutical sales. Shortly thereafter, he packed his bags and left the University of Georgia for the staff, but it wasn't long before he turned his attention to the limitations of heart monitoring, got a $ 25,000 loan, and made it his business to get a new one to deliver. technology-driven solution for clinicians. And since then, a few successful ventures later, Jeff has continued to take technology to a higher level of care.

Today, Jeff enables a personalized, digital health experience at Sharecare, where his global team of technologists, clinical experts and a host of other professionals provide a virtual care platform that is comprehensive and easy to use for everyone. In addition to providing the smartphone-based platform as a resource for improving one's own health, Arnold sees three levels that underlie the health paradigm in which the platform can help people on a large scale: the well-being of the community, the impact of our surroundings on our whole Environment takes health into account; Resilience, the ability of our personal wellness trips to strengthen and improve our longevity; and the emerging level of health security, where we can minimize known health risks by optimizing best practices with technology.

After seeing the significant impact Covid-19 had on the hospitality industry and employees, Jeff was inspired to harness the technical resources of Sharecare to restore the confidence of travelers and hospitality workers and set a new industry standard for health safety. Shortly thereafter, Sharecare worked with Forbes Travel Guide, of which Jeff is also chairing, to create a health safety review protocol that will allow hotels, venues and soon more touchpoints in our communities to confirm compliance by hundreds of experts. validated standards to minimize the risk of acute public health events. In less than six months, Sharecare's VERIFIED solution has become an indispensable tool for hotels, resorts and event venues in almost 60 countries, creating a unified global basis for health security. Jeff's health security undertaking goes even further with a new comprehensive vaccine compliance support solution on behalf of government agencies and large employers that offers these populations everything from educational information to registering appointments and reminders to tracking side effects and saving one digital version of your CDC vaccination card.

However, Jeff says these elements merely scratch the surface of what makes Sharecare's approach unique and well suited to addressing our health challenges. In the Sharecare ecosystem, these solutions complement other health programs, content and tools – digitally enabled and scalable – to promote the wellbeing of everyone, regardless of their needs.

What's next for Jeff? When Sharecare goes public later this year, one thing is certain: he will be there for the long term and is looking forward to what his team has not yet achieved. "In five years we will be a 'doorstep' to health care for all phones," he says. As Jeff and the Sharecare team make this vision a reality, we can expect the company to continue its strategic approach to M&A as he personally drives it by helping and mentoring other entrepreneurs.
