BRASILIA (Reuters) – Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer SA (NYSE 🙂 and Dutch aerospace companies signed an agreement on Monday to explore opportunities in defense and commercial aviation, including potential new configurations for their C-390 military transport aircraft.
In the commercial aviation market, the agreement with Fokker Techniek and Fokker Services should open up opportunities for technical and logistical support in addition to the development of hydrogen-powered aircraft, Embraer said in a statement.
Embraer is the third largest manufacturer of commercial aircraft in the world.
"There is tremendous potential for both companies to develop opportunities together," said Jackson Schneider, chief executive officer of Embraer Defense & Security.
"This is a very important step in Embraer's strategy of building meaningful and strategic partnerships around the globe," he said at the signing ceremony in Woensdrecht, the Netherlands.
