Bella Thorne, the actress, singer, and entrepreneur best known for starring on the Disney Channel series Shake It Up, has certainly messed it up for the past week.
Thorne is the latest celebrity to sign up for OnlyFans, a subscription-based social media platform where users can sell or buy original content. While some mainstream celebrities and influencers like Cardi B have OnlyFans pages, the platform is primarily known for its adult content.
After Thorne set up her account and requested $ 20 for a subscription, she quickly made $ 1 million in 24 hours and temporarily closed the site. She'll settle for $ 2 million by the end of the week. Not bad for posting alluring original content that the actress points out is not naked.
Also no, I don't do nudity !!! ❤️ https://t.co/vJECHqF4uW

Thorne is already a social media powerhouse with over 23 million Instagram followers and north of 6 million on Twitter. But she saw a unique opportunity with OnlyFans.
"Only Fans is a paid platform that is very similar to Instagram but uncensored," Thorne explained in an exclusive interview with Entrepreneur. "I use this platform as an uncensored and more intimate way to connect with fans."
She says the direct line to her fans spoke to her. "With all the algorithm and politics of other social media platforms, I can connect more one-to-one with my closest supporters."
Learn and earn
Another reason Thorne was there: good old-fashioned research and development. Thorne is currently researching a feature film with director Sean Baker about the website and its fans. "It was a natural way of doing research for me," she says.
In a text exchange with the Los Angeles Times, she said she hoped to learn a few things about herself and the OnlyFans culture. "What does such a platform do for its users? What is the connecting material between your life and your life in the world of OnlyFans? … How can it change your life for worse and for the better? How far are you willing to go and how." far do you want to go? "
While Thorne has studied, she also deserves. As an entrepreneur, she has used her star power in a number of ways, including launching her own line of cannabis called Forbidden Flowers.

"As public figures, I think we have the right to control and monetize our image and our creative space," she says.
Was she surprised at how many people signed up for their OnlyFans account in such a short time?
"It was an exciting, rewarding, and enjoyable response," she says. "I am grateful that my fans took this trip with them and I look forward to engaging with them in an honest way."
According to Thorne, future content will focus on their daily life, special shots of projects behind the scenes, and creative content.
"My content won't be explicit," she says. You will see everything I plan to do very soon … ENTREPRENEUR to the extreme! Caution!"
