Interfirst's new non-owner mortgage program, "One," is aimed at simplicity, said Chief Strategy Officer Bryan Filkey.
"It's been one of my philosophies since looking at the difference between the iPhone and the Android," said Filkey. "I don't care what Android can do for me. I don't have the time to grapple with it," he added, pointing out that he still has a single button iPhone.
Mortgage brokers should aim for this type of simplicity when working with borrowers, he said.
"If your experience is complex, you are not as good at your job as you think," said Filkey. "And that's why I made it my business to say, can I transfer this vision of simplicity to the private market, but also maintain the prudent rules and risk parameters that we want as an organization?"
