The US coronavirus death toll topped a quarter of a million on Wednesday as the recent wave of infections continues to surge across the country.
According to the Johns Hopkins University, 250,029 Americans have died from COVID-19 to date, with nearly 11.5 million cases confirmed. According to Hopkins data, more than 1,000 people were killed a day for eight of the last nine days.
