BERLIN (Reuters) – Dialog Semiconductor, whose customer Apple (NASDAQ 🙂 is one of its customers, confirmed on Sunday that advanced talks with Renesas Electronics Corporation are about a possible sale valued at around $ 6 billion.
Discussions centered on a possible cash offer of € 67.50 per share by UK-based chip designer Dialog, the company said in a statement that would offer a 20% premium over Friday's closing price of € 56.12 with a market capitalization of 56.12 euros represents around 4.3 billion euros.
"A further announcement will be made as appropriate. There can be no assurance that a firm offer will be made for the company, or the terms and conditions under which a firm offer might be made," he added.
The Frankfurt-listed Dialog said that Renesas was required by law to either announce a firm intention to bid by March 7, 1700 GMT, or not to intend to do so.
Renesas could not be immediately reached for comment.
The two companies agreed to expand their collaboration in August.
Last month's dialogue gave a positive sales forecast for the fourth quarter due to strong demand for 5G phones and tablets.
